WHY Washington D.C.?

Some people may ask, “Why focus on getting the Gospel to Washington DC in the summer of 2026?” The better question to ask is “Why not?” Think about these reasons for the burden of the DC Gospel Outreach.

Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States. A spiritual awakening in this city could have a ripple effect on other large cities and state capitals across the country. People from all over the world visit the capital and can be exposed to the Gospel.

Washington D.C. is one of the top 25 most populous cities in America. We are falling behind in getting the Gospel in the larger cities in America. Sadly, the 700,000 residents are often overlooked because of the focus on legislators and elected officials.

Religious liberty is a foundational freedom found in the First Amendment. If a person should be able to proclaim the Gospel in any city of the United States, it ought to be in Washington DC. Founding fathers and others who helped birth the country into existence realized the importance of the freedom of speech and religious liberty. There is no better way to preserve these rights that to exercise them.

People in governmental authority need the Gospel. In the book of Acts, Paul stood before Felix and Agrippa and gave witness of what Christ did for him. If God could clearly open the door for government officials in Paul’s day to hear the Gospel, surely he can do it again in America.

God loves the residents of Washington DC.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

Don’t ask “Why go to Washington DC?” Ask “Why not?”
